It was a momentous event in establishing stronger collaborations between University Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) and Kulim Technology Park Corporation (KTPC) through the signing of Memorandum of Collaboration to build on the expertise of teaching experts and talent pool from UniKL for the benefit of community and park tenants in Kulim Hi-Tech Park (KHTP).
The Memorandum of Collaboration (MoC) commits us to close partnership in three key areas; 1) Promotion and Establishment of Training Program; 2) Talent Pool; 3) Curriculum and Syllabus.
In the effort to reduce the present unemployment rates in Malaysia, KTPC stands ready to support UniKL to realize our shared objective in developing talent pool in KHTP. Through this initiative, our hope is to have social and economic impacts which will reduce unemployment rates as well as increase the standards of living in Kedah.
The MoC was witnessed by Y.Bhg Dato’ Wira Dr. Ku Abd Rahman Ku Ismail, Senior Kedah State Executive Council (Industry & Investment, Science, Technology & Innovation, Higher Education) and a member of KTPC Board of Directors. His support and presence in achieving this milestone reflects on the importance of this MoC in shaping the future of industries in KHTP.
Our hope and believe is that this collaboration will bridge the industrial and academia gaps, and provide a sustainable talent pool in KHTP by;
i) adequate workforce and strong talent pool could support the industrial need
ii) produce compatible graduates’ qualification against the industrial demand
iii) strengthen employee competencies, and
iv) as a channel of information and expertise between industry and institution.
The industries in KHTP are rapidly expanding and require a stable supply of workforce to support their operations. As KHTP is also expanding with the new industrial zones of IZP 4A and IZP 5, we believe that the total workforce will increase more than 15,000 employees by end of Quarter 4, 2023. Therefore, with that we seek support from universities as the best platform to facilitate KHTP park tenants.
KTPC will be sharing information and details on education, R&D and training programs by UniKL to KHTP park tenants through KTPC’s website and social media communications.
